Vintage small gas cylinder

Have you ever seen before a mini gas cylinder like this before ? Here is one of the rarest item that is passed down from my grandfather's time until today. My grandfather operates a gas supplier shop before it was taken over by my aunt in the 90s. This mini gas cylinder is used for ships as the sailors would use it to cook their food on board the boat. The cylinder can also be used for house and also for BBQ.

Normally this kind of gas cylinder are very rare to come by as there were only a few of this units were only produced. Some countries have higher standard of regulations regarding about gas cylinder and some of this smaller baby cylinder didn't manage to get marketed in those stricter countries. The brand which I have is "lightning" brand which were made and fill in Malaysia. The cost of making these kind of small cylinders are more expensive as compared to making those larger ones.

There are also labels with badge numbers, the weight of the cylinder, the maximum pressure and the test date on the top handle of the cylinder. The engraving of the labels have been faded away and most of the words couldn't be seen clearly

The refiling of this is also very troublesome as you need to go to an authorized place to get these baby fill up with gas. The refill can only be done if you have 100 tongs or more as the filling machine have a minimum amount of gas tong required

For this kind of gas cylinder, you will also need a special gas regulator for it and here it is. This is a Kosan Gas regulator which is also known as Mobil regulator. These kind of regulator are no longer in production and it is made in Denmark. The fitting of this gas regulator is only suitable for the older cylinder gas head. Now all the gas head nozzle are in the same height and diameter and any modern gas regulator can nicely fit in.

In the past, if you ever buy that particular gas brand, you will need to buy the gas regulator of that brand. Every gas brand got different size and way of fitting in. So if you are operating a shop which supplies cooking gas, you may need to carry a lot of regulators with different brands.
