Collection of Vintage Kitchenware and appliances

Image
Most of my kitchenware appliances are being passed down from generations to generations. Majority of the appliances have been kept for decades. As a vintage hobby collector, I do spend effort collecting these items as some of them are design uniquely and most of these items bring back good memories of the past. All of these items were originated from my grandmother's old shop, where I found most of it still remains there before moving it into a new location. There were many plates, bowls and many other cooking appliances used by my family during the good old days where my family size were very big back then as many of them are living under one roof. The number of bowls shown in this picture can make you roughly guess how many of my family members were living together in one house back then. Moving on, I also found many beautiful looking enamel trays and plates left in the cupboards. Some of them are still brand new and have not been used at all. Other items

Vintage Miniature Gas Cylinder

Image
This is another variant of miniature gas cylinder as the center base is much wider and shorter as compared to the previous one which I shared about here . Most of these gas cylinders were used for steamboat cooking or even cooking on board the boat. For smaller gas cylinder, you will need a special gas regulator to get this item connected and working. I still cannot find the brand of this gas cylinder. If you ever came across this kind of miniature gas cylinder, do let me know in the comments section whats are the brands out there. I am taking a smart guess that the sticker on the gas cylinder had been peeled off. At the handle of the cylinder, there are some words and markings stamped on it. The words stamped on it are used as a reference to indicate the maximum and minimum pressure of the tank. The holes on the handle are also used for tying up the gas cylinder. Overall, the condition of the tank is quite good except that the brand is unknown. This item can be use a

Postcard from MCYS

Image
MYCS is a short name for Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports in Singapore. This postcard is dated back in the year 2006. The drawing of the postcard really brings me back memories of my past as a kid as I love to draw and colour. At the back of the card, there is a sharing section where you can send in your writings to the reader. As a 90s kid, I bet some of us enjoy participating in writing and sharing our thoughts through mailing our message to the contester or reader. Back then, I wasn't a kid who likes to share things with people but I slowly grew up to learn how to share more during my secondary school days.

Happy Grandparents' Day Card

Image
This card is sponsored by Stabilo back in the year 2005. The front design of this card shown below is very eye attracting and creative. There are also many other designs too. I like this card the most as it is very beautiful and colourful. I am curious to know who drew this beautiful masterpiece here. Here is a 3rd and last design of the card. As you can see there is a presence of an old CRT monitor drew in the card and this reflects how old this card is. The back design of the card are all the same for the 3 pieces.

Movie postcard

Image
Movie postcard are hot collectible items especially famous movies. In the post card, we will write things about the movie that we watch and sometimes, we will accidentally spoil the movie for our readers too. Oppss !!! There are many things to write in a movie postcard and sometimes, even running out of space to even writing down the address too. Your words will be all over the place and the poor postman have a difficult time to find the sender address. I have this movie postcard from the movie, "Sweet Home Alabama" which is a romance movie shown in the year 2002. At the back, there isn't any space for us to write anything except for the address of the sender. Cards like this are often attached with a stapler paper with messages on the front of the card. But quite often, we will lose the paper message during the delivery process and didn't get to see what our writers have for us to say. I also have this movie postcard from the movie "Spy Kids 2&

Lee Hwa Jewellery Postcard

Image
I also have another advertisement postcard from Lee Hwa Jewellery. That shop is still in operation in Singapore which a few branches across Singapore. This card is more like helping the company to promote when you send this card to your friends or relatives. You can be creative by writing a message on this postcard and send it along together with the gift to your love ones. There is also a lucky draw where you can write down your address and participate in the walk away lucky prizes. But too bad, this promotion has already ended over 20 years ago as this card was dated back in the year 2000. Just keep this card for remembrance will do and over the years, it would soon fetch value.

Christmas postcard

Image
This season card, I bet everyone of us surely receive them at least once in a lifetime. There is no date on this card to indicate how old is it. Higher chance, this card is purchased at a bookstore. Since this card is not being used at all, I plan to write a Christmas message on this card and pass it to my love one by postage one Christmas day.

This postcard is from Singapore Cable Vision (SCV) which is from the year 2000 or maybe earlier than that as SCV was acquired by StarHub back in the year 2001. Genting Highlands Postcards

Image
These postcards are from the year 1999 or even older, where Genting outdoor theme park were still in operation during those years. Genting outdoor theme park came to closure in the mid-2000s. In those postcards, you don't even see the recognizable famous colourful building of First World Hotel that came into operation in the year 2001. When I see this picture showing the larger view of Genting Highlands, it brings me back good memories where I used to visit Genting Highlands as a kid. This postcard is slightly larger piece than the rest in my collection with measurements of 17 cm length and 12 cm width. I believe this postcard is the oldest among all in my collection. Back of the card Bottom shows a few postcards of Genting Theme Park where frequent visitors of the place would recognize some of the characters. Design 1 Design 2 The design of the back of the card where you write the message is the same for both of the cards shown above.

Vintage Postcard Collection

Image
In the past, we used to buy these postcards as a common souvenir for our friends or relatives when we visit a tourism place or travel overseas. Before handphone came into action where Instagram and Whatsapp messages were commonly sent like in today's world, the older kids will send these cards out to inform their friends about the place they visited. Most of the time, kids in the past will eventually buy the stamp and mail it out from the country itself which they bought the postcard from. I remember back in the days, where friends will usually write postcards to you especially those friends who study in overseas or during season holidays like Chinese New Year or Christmas. It is very common, to receive these postcards back in the past if you are a kid born during the 90s or earlier than that. Both of my parents shared with me that they sill keep their old postcards which their friend sent to them as it brings back joyful memories back to them. These postcards in my collect

New 2020 OCBC coin bank

Image
Finally got my hands on this new OCBC wooden coin bank for free as a blessing from someone. The freshness of the wooden aroma from the bleached wood can still be smelled until today even thou I got this a few days ago. Talking more about this coin bank, this is an eco-friendly edition piggy bank given out to people who deposit a certain amount of cash using an OCBC bank account. The best part is that the promotion is still available until the 8th of March 2020 which is close to one month away. I like the design of this coin bank as it helps to split your cash-in money into 3 categories.  This item here will be very useful for young kids as they learn how to save up their pocket money for the future. This coin bank is also specially painted using colour laser engraver which is quite a new technology.. I learned about image engraving back in my days in polytechnic where I received my first hands on experienced there. At the bottom, you can cash out your savings separate

Vintage brass key collection

Image
Recently, I started to become a collector of brass keys. Brass keys have been extinct from today's market as most keys are now made of stainless steel. Some of these brass keys in my collection could have been from the 40s and 50s. These brass keys are known to oxides easily as it turns from golden brown to dark brown and sometimes black in colour. I decided to do an experiment by polishing them using lime and it works very well. Before polishing with lime After polishing with lime The difference is really huge and it can remove almost 90% of the black spots. Overall as a conclusion, if you want to clean brass materials, you can do so using lime juice or any citrus fruits.
