Vintage NEMC fan

This is a NEMC brand fan which is commonly used  in the household of Malaysia houses back in the 70s and the 80s. NEMC fan are much cheaper as compared with other ceiling fan brand like Mitsubishi, KDK and National. This brand isn't rare at all as NEMC fans are all made in Malaysia in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan state which is almost an hour drive from Kuala Lumpur city.

This is a 60-inch (152 cm) diameter fan and it supports up to 5 speed. The cool air is generated by a 90-watt motor. Too bad, I didn't have much details regarding this fan as my aunt can't recall the information about this fan as it was installed in her shop many decades ago. This fan have been coated with a layer of green colour paint due to the ever comeback of rust back then.

Collecting old fan can be troublesome as you will need to change the bearing in the motor from time to time. The heating up of motor for old model fan like this is very common back then as the blades of the fan are extra heavy duty and thus the motor needs to work extra hard to spin the blade. Fan blade these days are so much lighter in weight and their range of weight for each blade are from 350 grams to 500 grams, whereas old model fan can easily fetch up to 1.2 kilograms.

I have another older fan in my collection which is the USHA fan, you can view it here for further reading.
