This item is one of the cutest vintage hardware item ever I collected so far. Ordered by my grandfather from China in the 1970s and resell them in my family gas store. My aunt recall that he use this mini stove to boil water or tea while working on his job. He use to boil water using this in front of the shop, where they use to stack up the gas cylinder. She remembered this because my grandfather didn't know that this act is very dangerous as there were many gas cylinder surrounding him. Lucky nothing bad happen during the time. All of these items here are all brand new and have not been used at all Currently, there are not many more of these vintage stove set left as all this are the remaining old stock. Vintage food cupboard

Image
Here is one awesome old school food storage cupboard which my grandparents used in the past 30 years. According to my mum, there was another one of these food storage cupboard but it is a much older than this. She recall that my grandpa threw it away before she bought this cupboard. That older cupboard was in bad condition and maybe some termites could have ate some parts of the wood. Food cupboard like this are built to keep files or other insects from landing or infesting on the food. These wire mesh place on the cupboard doors enable exchange of air in the cupboard and also prevent other insects from coming in. Normally these wire mesh is also covered with another thin cloth which act as a secondary protection and that cloth also helps to prevent dust from entering the cabinet. Another method of protecting the food is the rattan tray that cloth covered. Unfortunately, I don't have the picture of it, because my grandma didn't keep one of them. These rattan food co

CAAC Vintage paper fan

Image
CAAC in long form means Civil Aviation Administration of China which was China first aviation company that manage commercial airlines. This paper fan that I have here is from CAAC airlines which ceased its operation in 1988. It was a gift of appreciation when for those who choose to fly with CAAC airlines. Now it has been taken over and split into 6 different airline companies in China. The paper fan was really special to me because it was my grandmother's first aeroplane flight and visit to China, somewhere in the early 1980s. She visited Beijing, China and some other small towns. Today, this paper fan is still lying on my display cupboard and I don't have any intention to let it go on sale, although it can really fetch value despite some foxing on the paper.

Fully Restored Charcoal Iron

Image
In my old post, I blog about restoring my vintage charcoal iron and now here it is. You can find the post in this link  https://jonhobbycollection.blogspot.com/2019/09/charcoal-iron-restoration.html . Now, everything looks as good as new. But there are still some parts which I cannot polish them due to pitting of the brass and the presence of some impurities inside this brass material. The brass material do contains a very small quantity of impurities such as iron that causes the brass to be dented and causing some small holes. Below are some photos taken during the restoration process. The first picture shows that I went into a workshop to get rid away of the rusted iron bar which is sitting on the back of the body of the charcoal iron which act as a hinge for the opening and closing of the iron. I manage to find a copper rode which can fit into the hole nicely and this can act as a new hinge. At the workshop also, I manage to find a copper metal hook which can also be use
