Vintage Claw Grabber

Image
A lot of people told me that this claw grabber is a very rare item. According to a vintage collector, he shared with me that this claw grabber is one of its kind and it is no longer seen in production ever since it disappeared back in the early 70s. This claw grabber functions to help you to take out hot plates and stuff from the steamer pot. This piece here is made from aluminium and there is a few Chinese words engrave on the top of the grabber.  The words couldn't be seen clearly therefore, I couldn't do a translation here. When open According to my mum who used it back then told me that this grabber will sometimes become stiff and harden up making it difficult to grab things.  When close She even shared with me a technique on smoothing up by washing it with soap and water. When my friend first saw this, she told me that this grabber looks the same as the ones in the claw machine at the shopping centre. HAHAHA, actually it does look a like.

Vintage Xingnan Primary School Souvenir Envelop

Image
Here is a special design envelop for storing photos or cards dated back in the year 2000. Your name and your class will also be printed on the envelop too !!! You can even see the old school's landline number, which is present in 7 digits whereas our landline phones these days are all 8 digits. But too bad, the envelop is not in a very good condition when I received it from the previous owner. I am going to let it be as it is. Good collection item, I would say.

Vintage large enamel tray

Image
These enamel tray reminds me about the time when my grandmother used to make kueh for the whole family to eat when I was a small boy. Until today this is my favourite kueh and it can be found in towns like Senai and Kulai, Johor, Malaysia. I will not forget those epic moments where I spam the entire chill sauce on just one kueh, because chilli is a perfect match for this mouth-watering kueh. The name for this kueh is called "Soon Kueh" Back to this enamel tray, it is made in Japan under Tiger brand and it is 50 cm in diameter.  Enamel trays that are made in Japan are very rare because in the 50s and 60s, many older folks are not very acceptable to Japanese items due to Japan invasion back in world war 2. These trays are also known as a drying tray too.  I can recall that my grandmother would dry curry powder infront of the hall and the smell of the curry powder is so strong for me and I didn't like the smell. I would hold my breath and walk or run away from the enamel tra

Vintage recordable cassettes

Image
Well, do you know that recordable cassettes does exist?? You can record any voice or sound if you have the recorder or radio with recordable functon. These recordable cassettes are succession for the reel tape recorder. Reel Tape recorder are very troublesome to be used as there is a lot of work needed and the player do wear out easily compared to cassette tapes. The common recording time for cassettes are 30, 60 and 90 minutes. Some cassette recording player function even have pause function where you can pause and continue your recording later. The recording on cassettes aren't that good as compared with CDs recording. The voice recorded on cassette seems to be very soft based on my experienced. This kind of recordable cassette have seen a vanish sign in the market in the late 2000s as phones during that era have built in recording function.

Vintage Cassettes

Image
Cassettes are popular among people who are born from the 60s to the 90s. On top of that, cassettes is definitely a must have item for those who owns a portable HIFI set or the famous Sony Walkman back in the 80s. According to my mum, she shared with me that she has a huge collection of cassettes songs from the 70s to the 80s. Cassettes are very cute in size and they can be kept easily. These days cassettes are harder to find, and they are cut off from production. If you have cassettes, you will need a player to have them playing. Cassette player are known to wear out overtime if you don't use it often. The reader ribbon heads on the cassette heads do spoil easily and required cleaning from time to time. Here are my mum's collection of cassette from the early 80s.

Vintage Porcelain Japanese Lantern Doll

Image
This is a rare porcelain doll from Japan and it is well treasured by collectors out there. It is a gift bought by my aunt who visited Japan in the 70s.  The doll is carefully hand painted and decorated. It is one of the best dolls that I have ever seen in the collection. This piece is estimated to be value about 50 to 60 Singapore dollars easily.

Vintage Flask

Image
Everyone of us had seen a flask like this before during our childhood time. The attractive and shinny metal surface gets my notice as I remembered that my grandmother would boil water and store them in this kind of flask.  The brand of the flask is sunflower brand and this flask shown here is a plain red design flask. Besides this, there are other flask that comes in many different designs too.  The outer surface of this flask is made from metal and in the inside is made from glass. Flask like this, do rust easily especially the outer surface. In order, to prevent the hot steam from coming out, there is a flask stopper in order to secure the hot water and steam inside. The stopper is made from aluminium and is often coated with a cloth to give an overall tightness which will create a strong vacuum inside the flask.

Vintage XiangCheng Daqu Liquor

Image
This liquor is from the 80s and it is sold widely for southeast Asia countries like Malaysia and Singapore. This is a Chinese rice  wine drink that contain 46 percent alcohol content. The security seal is made from plastic enclosing the cap.  There is also a picture of the rice grain crafted at the side of the bottle. As observed, there is a very low content of liquor left inside the bottle as evaporation had taken place.  It is very common for high percentage alcoholic drink like rice wine to evaporate easily over time. This bottle also comes with original box as well and the condition of the box is still very beautiful and well kept.
