TV license

Last time in the 60s and 70s during my parent’s era, owning a Television was really a luxury item. Not just purchasing a television set was expensive but also the television license was expensive too. In Malaysia and Singapore, the television license was introduced back in the early 60s. Every house owner who owns a television set must apply for a television license. The best part was the license doesn’t limit to the number of televisions sets you own at home. In Malaysia, the license back then was printed on a pink coloured A5 paper showing the details of the types of television you owned. The TV license shown below is from my late grandfather’s collection and it is dated back in the year 1971. The price of the TV license in Malaysia has not changed at all. The price still remains at 24$ from the early 60s to the time they abolish on 31 st Dec 1999. In Singapore, the TV license continues until the 31 st December 2010. Old TV Collection

How many of you guys out there are still keep your old television set ? Now it is very rare to find old TV collectors out there. Collecting old TV requires a lot of display space. Also due to digitization of televisions, many users will want to switch their old television for newer ones to receive better and clearer images. In Singapore, the TV broadcast is now fully digitized, whereas many parts of the world are still making effort to fully digitized their TV broadcasting. Well for me, I still have these 2 old television set from the 80s, which was passed down from my uncle. The first was a Philips TV from the early 80s The second was a Sharp TV from the late 80s Both of these TV doesn’t have RCA connector ( 3 coloured wires ).
