Governors Of Malaysian Banknote

From the day of Malaysia's independence day until today in 2019, there is a current total of 9 governors of Bank Negara Malaysia. These governors sign various series of the Malaysian banknotes. Tan Sri William Howard Wilcox ( January 1959 to July 1962) x The first on the list is  Tan Sri William Howard Wilcox also in short, W. H. Wilcox . He is a British  man who came to Malaysia in 1958 and his duty was to be a banking adviser to the Government of Malaya. A year later, he became the first governor of Bank Negara Tanah Melayu which was the old name before it was change to Bank Negara Malaysia.  Tun Ismail Mohamed Ali ( July 1962 to July 1980) In 1962, W. H. Wilcox, handled his duty to Tun Ismail Mohamed Ali who was the first Malaysian governor of Bank Negara Malaysia.  Tun Ismail is also known for his integrity character who is always on time. Welcome to my blog. Today, let me share with you the history of Malaysia banknote. You may be wondering why Malaysia banknote besides other banknotes out there? This is because, I am very familiar with the currency and I grew up using them. Malaysian Ringgit, in short terms MYR is the currency code issued by Bank Negara Malaysia which is Malaysia’s national bank. The common term “RM” which was found on the 3rd series and 4th series of the banknotes stands for “Ringgit Malaysia”. The name ringgit means “jagged” in Malay and it was initially used to refer to the sawtooth edges of the silver Spanish dollars which were being used as a currency back in the Portuguese colonial era in the 16th and 17th century. The first series of banknote of Malaysia were issued on 12th of June 1967 to replace Malaya and British dollar which was previously use before independence day.
